It’s been a while since my last blog post, even though I’ve been to Italy & NYC. I’ll probably upload a photo gallery of these trips, but in the meanwhile I’m excited to share my recent trip to Malta!

So we were invited to visit Malta for a long weekend in late April. We flew directly with Air Malta and arrived at noon, very pleased to find out that the weather was perfect – clear skies and sunny days, a bit chilly at night. We then arrived at our beautiful hotel located right by St. George’s Bay Corinthia St. George Hotel  where we stayed throughout our vacation.

A few facts about Malta:

  1. A few cities in Malta, such as Valletta, Mdina & Gozo have been featured on Game of Thrones.
  2. Malta is the smallest country in the European union.
  3. Malta’s archipelago consists up of 7 islands, the most popular ones are Malta, Gozo and Comino.

Here’s a breakdown of our itinerary during our beautiful vacation:

Day 1

First, We visited Birgu & Valletta, the Capital. We spent some time

around the harbour and took a traditional Maltese boat to the Barrakka Lift, where we got to see the beautiful panoramic view of Valletta. The city carries a yellowish tone with it, as you can probably see from the photos. It is originated from the local limestone which is used for construction on the island.

Day 2

We took the ferry to Gozo Island (it takes about 15 minutes), where we took rented jeeps to travel the island. Gozo is gorgeous and has a completely different atmosphere than the main island of Malta and is highly recommended for a visit when in Malta.

First, we got to see the beautiful view from the Tal-Mixta Cave, overlooking Ramla Bay.

We then continued to the famous Dwejra Bay, filled with dramatic coastal formations and sea spilling over the rocks.

Our next stop was the beautiful clear waters of Wied Il Ghasri, where we stopped for a rest and enjoyed its cool water.

Our last spot in Gozo were the beautiful, 350 years old salt pans, here are some of the photos:

After arriving back in Malta, on our way back to the hotel, we decided to stop by the picturesque Popye Village right in time for the golden hour.

Day 3

We started our morning heading to the famous Blue Grotto, where we also took a beautiful boat ride around & inside.

Next, we headed towards Marsaxlokk, for the local fish market (takes place only on Sunday), it is located right on its colorful harbor, and has a very typical Mediterranean atmosphere which I personally loved.

Our last stop was Mdina ,as our dinner also took place there. Mdina is just a classic beautiful old city (And also a shooting location for GoT Season 1), it’s all built by the classic local lime stone with colorful doors, porches & windows and beautiful boutique hotels – it’s a must visit city!

Malta, you were a surprising destination, I fell in love with the atmosphere, people and scenery – I’ll be back!

A special thanks to everyone from Switch for your well done organization and unforgettable hospitality!

Until Next Time, Ella <3
